Everest Base Camp Trek is the classic trekking trail of the Khumbu region. This is one of the most famous treks of Nepal, where every year thousands of travelers visit. Following in the footsteps of Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary, hundreds of visitors trek in this region to see the world's largest mountains as well as stunning views of the Himalayan landscape. Located in the northeastern part of Nepal, Everest Base Camp Trek will provide you with the best trekking experience that will stay in your memory for a lifetime. Sherpa's, Rai's, and Limbu's are some of the ethnic groups that live here. All of these communities have different art, dress, beliefs & customs that as a whole, make this region immensely rich in culture and tradition. Along the trail, you will visit Tengboche monastery, which is one of the largest monasteries of this region.

The Everest Base Camp Trekking trail is also very beautiful and adventurous. You will pass through dense forests of rhododendron, pine, maple & oak, cross suspension bridges over cold & untamed rivers, cross streams, trek through fine valleys & lovely villages, and see breathtaking views of snowcapped mountains as well as stunning scenery throughout the trek. The world's largest and highest glacier point after one and a half to two hours ascent from Gorekshep is the Everest  Base camp (5360m.). In the expedition high season, many tents are here because it is the base camp for climbers.

Kala Pathar (5545m.) is an excellent viewpoint to see the stunning view of Mt. Everest (8848m.), Mt. Lhotse (8516m.) Mt. Pumori (7161m.), Mt. Nuptse (7861m.), and numerous other snowcapped mountains. Although it is tough to climb very early in the morning from Gorekshep to Kala Pathar, the sense of achievement is difficult to explain in words. A crystal clear sky with stars, dawn rays lighting the tops of the peaks, and the view of the Khumbu Glacier make it hard to leave this place. The earlier you start to climb from the guesthouse, the more you chance you have to see the spectacular view of the Khumbu region, and its many mountain peaks.

Useful Information

Everest Base Camp trek route

Everest Base Camp Trek begins with a short 35 minutes scenic flight to Lukla. Even though the fight will be short, you will find yourself already at 2,860 meters, which is a huge gain of altitude in a short period of time. This increases the chance of altitude sickness, therefore, if you feel any uneasiness or short of breath do tell your team members so that they can take proper and timely measures. However, this doesn't happen frequently, but it's better to be safe than sorry. From here, the trail will take you to Namche Bazar, the tourist hub of the Khumbu region. Taking a day off here, you will explore the region and nearby areas. Then, the trail continues all the way up to the Everest Base Camp via Tengboche, Dingboche, and Lobuche. You will also see the beautiful Khumbu glacier and glacial lakes on the way.

From Everest Base Camp, you see panoramic views of Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Mt. Thamserku (6,608 m), Mt. Ama Dablam (6,812 m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516 m), Mt. Twache (6,495 m), Mt. Nuptse (7,861 m), Mt. Kongde (6,187 m) and numerous other Himalayan mountains. The next day, you will hike up to Kala Pathar to see probably one of the most stunning sunrises of your life with the Himalayas as a backdrop. Kala Pathar is a famous viewpoint of the Khumbu region and also provides a 360-degree view of Everest and surrounding mountains. From here, you will descend to Lukla in the coming days and fly back to Kathmandu.

From September to December, the weather will be stable with mild-warm days and cold nights. Snowland Adventure is a team of enthusiastic workers and our guests safety and comfort is our team's first priority. We will make sure, with us, this trip will become a lifelong memory. For any information regarding the itinerary or trek cost, please feel free to contact us anytime.

Note:

Due to global warming, the weather in the mountain and hilly region has changed unusually. Because of this, we are facing some problems with bad weather, heavy rainfall, landside, blocked highways and flight delays or cancellations for a day. Sometimes because of the road traffic, we are unable to arrive on time. It may happen at any time of the year because we cannot predict the weather conditions and other situations outside of our control. Therefore, if possible, we would like to suggest adding an extra day before your international flight. If everything is going well, you have a beautiful day to visit any interesting place in the historical city.
