You will arrive at Kathmandu International Airport (TIA). One of the team representatives from Snowland Treks & Expedition will be at the airport to welcome you, and he will take you to your hotel. You will be given a short brief about the trip and go for purchasing the trekking equipment.
Island Peak Climbing 16-days Itinerary
Day 01 Arrival at the Airport
Day 02 Kathmandu – Lukla – Phakding (2,610 m)
You will fly to Lukla today. The flight will be short and confer you astonishing views of the Himalayan mountains. Upon reaching Lukla, you will descend down through forested trail and pass by small villages to reach Phakding.
Day 03 Phakding – Namche Bazaar (3,440 m)
You will begin trekking gradually through several villages and beautiful pine forest. You will reach Jorsalee (2,800 m), and from here, you will trek to reach Dudhkoshi River. Further climbing on the steep trail will take you to Namche Bazaar. You will see gorgeous views of Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516 m), and Mt. Nuptse (7,861 9m) from here.
Day 04 Namche Bazaar – Khumjung Valley Excursion (3,790 m)
It is your rest day at Namche Bazar to acclimate your body with the increased altitude. You will spend the day exploring the village and its nearby areas. You will go on a short excursion to the Everest View Hotel from where you can see wonderful views of snow-capped mountains. Later, you will descend down to Namche Bazar and visit the Sherpa Culture Museum and Everest Photo Gallery.
Day 05 Namche Bazaar – Tengboche (3,860 m)
You will descend passing through the several beautiful villages and pine forest to reach Phunki Thanga. From here, you will climb steeply towards Tengboche. After reaching Tengboche, you will visit the Tengboche Monastery, which is one of the main monasteries of this region.
Day 06 Tengboche – Pheriche (4,270 m)
You will begin trekking gradually descending through the steep and muddy section until you cross a suspension bridge. After that, you will ascend to Pheriche and go through the small villages and conifer, rhododendron, and birch forest you will reach Pheriche.
Day 07 Pheriche – Lobuche (4,910 m)
Today's trek will lead you to Dugla (4,620m) easily. From there, you will climb uphill for around two hours and further, walk on the flat path to reach Lobuche.
Day 08 Lobuche – Gorak shep- Everest Base Camp (5,364 m)
You will have several ascends and descends before you reach Gorak Shep. Gorak Shep is located below the summit of Mt. Pumori (7,161 m). After reaching Gorak Shep, you will trek to Everest Base Camp (5,400 m). You will go along the Khumbu glacier from where you can see gorgeous blue ice and Khumbu Icefall. After spending some time on the EBC, you will return back to Gorak Shep.
Day 09 Gorak Shep – (Kalapathar)- Dingboche (4,410 m)
You will trek to Kalapathar today. You will ascend to the peak of Kalapathar (5,545 m). After reaching Kalapathar, you will get to witness 360-degree panoramic views of Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Mt. Nuptse (7,861 m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516 m), Mt.Pumori (7,161 m), Mt.Ama Dablam (6,812 m), Mt.Kantega (6,782 m), and Mt.Thamserku (6,623 m). Later, you will descend down to
Day 10 Dingboche – Chhukung (4,700 m)
You will ascent to Chhukung (4,700 m) for the 360-degree view of the Himalayas. Chhukung is also the entrance if the Island Peak Expedition. You can also go on a day trip to Glacier or to Imjatse Valley.
Day 11 Chhukung – Island Peak Base Camp (5,087 m)
Today, the trail will ascend steeply towards the south then turning east to the main line of the valley. You will trek along a streamside leading to the Big-rock. You will see the route to the Amphu Lapcha in the southeast. You will go through the zigzag route through the Imja and Lhotse glacier moraines that will take you to the wide valley in the South West side of Island peak.
Day 12 Island Peak Base Camp- High Camp (5,500 m)
You will ascend to the high camp. The trail is challenging and goes through the steep rocky path. You will get to see gorgeous views of Imja glacier and lake along the way. After trekking for three hours, you will reach High Camp.
Day 13 Island Peak Summit (6,189 m) and Back to Chhukung
You will wake up super early today, and begin your trek towards Island Peak (6,189 m). The trail will not be so strenuous but go through several steep rocky sections. You will then trek along the ridgeline that will take you to the summit glacier. You will use a rope for further trekking to reach the summit of Island Peak (6,189 m). You will then return back to Chhukung.
Day 14 Chhukung – Namche ( 3,440 m)
You will descend through the dwarf junipers and beautiful Mani stones. The trail will go through several Mani Walls and take you to the dense forest of rhododendrons. You will then cross Imja Khola and ascend to Pangboche. You will visit Pangboche Gompa, which is one of the oldest Gompas in the Khumbu Region. The trail then will trek back to Namche Bazaar. The trail will include steep descend that will lead you to the Hillary Suspension Bridge. After crossing the bridge, you will trek easily to Namche Bazaar.
Day 15 Namche – Lukla (2,840 m)
With the last view of the world's largest mountains, you will leave Namche Bazaar to trek back to Lukla. Trekking on the same route, you will reach Lukla. After reaching Lukla, you will rest and explore the nearby areas.
Day 16 Lukla – Kathmandu
You will have the warm delicious breakfast before leaving Lukla. You will take a short scenic flight to Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu, you will be taken to the hotel. Rest of the day is free for you to relax. In the evening, you will join the farewell dinner organized by the company.
